Type, Ding, Return - 1932

From the beginning of The University Weekly's publication in 1906 to the early 1990s, the typewriter was the most important tool for a student journalist such as Ernie Deane, shown here editing by pencil as he typed a story. Underwoods, Royals, Smith-Coronas and eventually IBM Selectrix kept the stories flowing from writers to printers until the computer age.
