Ozark Mountain Times - 1970

The Ozark Free Press Association began publishing the Ozark Mountain Times in 1970 and distributing it on campus. Despite its organizers' intent to distribute free, the Ozark Mountain Times had to be sold to cover printing costs, which drew it into conflict with an administration against solicitation on campus. In February 1971, salesmen for the newspaper, including at least one student, were arrested. The Traveler covered the news, subsequent protests and editorialized in favor of a compromise that would allow campus organizations to sell products on campus.
